If you want to help someone get going with a computer that originally came with a Windows operating system, but they need another language, Linux can be a great way to go. I'm using Ubuntu, which is easy to learn to use for a former Windows user. Puppy Linux can be a nice option if you are dealing with an old machine. We use Lubuntu with our crew of volunteers that do keyboarding in minority languages, using old cast-off computers. Special character keyboarding can be done in a couple of different ways, but one good option is KMFL. If they just need the characters for a major language, like Spanish there are good built-in options for that.

Whether using Linux or Windows, Open Office, or the new fork of it called Libre Office is a great tool for producing materials. It can do most of what MS Word and Excel and PowerPoint can do, and it is totally free with a variety of interface languages available.

I have yet to find a Bible study program that I like that runs in native Linux mode, but TheWord.gr runs fairly well under Wine. ScriptureEarth.org provides modules for maybe 200 languages that work with TheWord.

There is a collection of free clipart, openclipart.org that can be useful for making literacy or other teaching materials.

If you are looking of Scripture in an indigenous language from Mexico, you can find Bible portions, complete New Testaments in both audio and text (PDF) for download on Scripture Earth. The site can be a little hard to find in a standard search so I'm including a list of the materials you can find there below in the hopes that more people will find it. If you want to give someone the url, an easy way is to use ito.mx/bblmx, a little shorter and maybe easier for a Spanish Speaker. The site also has modules for use with TheWord Bible study software and links to the Jesus Film. Wanting to purchase a hard copy? The site has links for that too.

I've been experimenting with url shorteners. Site names like scriptureearth.org can be cumbersome to pass to someone else, especially a Spanish speaker. Some interesting options are tinyurl.com, bit.ly, and ito.mx.

The following links will all take you right to the Mexico page, in Spanish at ScriptureEarth.

Here is a link that takes you straight to the Isthmus Zapotec (Zapoteco del Istmo) page:

You can easily create your own shortcuts to any page you like with these free services.

If you want to give someone print Scripture from a PDF that is sized to A5 or half-letter, try Acrobat Reader's options to print it is a booklet. With a duplexing printer, you can quickly print a booklet ready to fold and staple. If you don't want to mess with printing your own, you can buy a paperback edition from print-on-demand website www.virtualstorehouse.org.

If you want to give someone audio Scripture, you can buy a cheap MP3 player, maybe around $15, load it up and give it away. Many cell phones can store and play audio files and share them via Blue-tooth. Many DVD players for showing movies on a TV will play an MP3 CD. One CD will hold all or most of the New Testament in audio at the quality you download from Scripture Earth.
